Understanding the Hair Growth Cycle

Anagen (Growth)
The longest phase and best time for laser hair removal treatments because the hair is fully active and growing from the follicle.

Catagen (Transition)
A brief phase where hair stops growing. Laser hair removal may be less effective because the follicle is shrinking.

Telogen (Resting)
The hair isn’t actively growing, and the follicle is resting. Hair in this phase won’t be targeted.

Exogen (Shedding)
Old hair is falling out to make way for new hair.

Your provider will adjust the laser to treat your exact skin color and hair color.

A hand-held device directs pulses of laser light onto the skin that feels like a rubber band snap.

Important Considerations About Laser Hair Removal
The average Milan Laser client is up to 95% hair-free in just 7 to 10 treatments spaced five weeks apart. While laser hair removal is generally safe, there are potential side effects to consider:

Mild redness and swelling immediately following treatments is a common side effect. Use an ice pack, cool compress, or aloe vera to help soothe your skin.

For laser hair removal providers without the technology or training to treat all skin tones safely, there’s a high risk of burns or blisters.

Laser hair removal on tanned skin or skin that isn’t at its baseline tone can cause burns and blisters.
Why Choose Laser Hair Removal? Key Benefits
- Laser hair removal gives you permanent results. Because each hair follicle is targeted, that hair can’t grow back, leaving you with soft, beautiful skin for life.
- The results are permanent, so you don’t have to keep paying for razors, shaving cream, or waxing appointments, which saves you hundreds of thousands of dollars over a lifetime.
- Each laser pulse takes just a millisecond. Treatments are much faster compared to shaving, plucking, waxing, and at-home laser hair devices.
- Shaving and waxing are hard on your skin. With laser hair removal, you can avoid ingrown hairs, razor burn, cuts, strawberry skin, and other skin irritations.
